Hi,
I’m Cyrus, a high school student, and I’ve been volunteering with a nonprofit based in CT called Full Court Peace for many years, where I have helped renovate and build basketball courts, in communities that need them the most.
I feel really lucky that I get to play basketball at home in our driveway, at school and the local YMCA. Its where I’ve met many of my good friends and learned a lot about myself. Basketball is also where I relieve stress and feel part of a community.
June is World Refugee Month and given everything we see happening in the world today, I’m volunteering my time as a Full Court Peace GLOBAL ambassador to help rebuild a whole sports playground for Syrian refugees in Jordan.
Jordan is host to over 1.4 million Syrian refugees, and nearly 85% of Syrian refugees live below the poverty line there.
So, I need your help. I need to raise $8,000 by June 1st in order for this project to lift off at the Azraq Education Center. This school has 300 refugee students ages 3-18 who desperately need a community area for sports. Please consider donating generously.
I’ll be there helping to build the courts and will keep you posted on the sports program that Full Court Peace and the Azraq School are launching, that will not only give refugee kids a place to exercise and play, but it will also teach teamwork and wellbeing, and create community.
Donate today and help change the lives of refugees.
